Mom admits she picked him up because he looked pathetic and reminded him of her son, who is sitting in the back with the guy, and is a few years younger. Later He hops into a family station wagon, driven by a Mom and her 2 kids. He's heading nowhere in particular but maybe always in a particular direction, like always west. Various different vehicles and people of different social circles, he reacts how he thinks he should to try an earn their trust, but is careful not to reveal to much about himself or make obvious lies like he did with the trucker. The trucker realizes the guy is lying, gives him some sagely advice thinking he's just picked up a dumb kid out of his depth, and drops the guy off where he initially asked to be dropped. The kid lies poorly, often contradicting himself in his lies. They don't say much to each other, the guy is nervous scared he's afraid of being caught, the trucker assumes he is intimidated by a big guy like himself, tries to get the kid to open up. It's a story about generosity and trust, he has to struggle to fit in with the various social circles he finds himself in whilst also coming to terms with what he did.įirst vehicle to pull over is a gruff trucker. The audience knows he did this, but it's "justified" so to speak he killed someone cruel or horrible, but is a killer none the less.īasically it's a story of him interacting with all these perfect strangers, who were kind enough to pick him up. At first the police don't want to cause a scare, but later on they are more public about the search and even broadcast on the radio not to pick up strangers etc. The person he killed is important enough that there is a search for him. The idea is that the guy has killed someone and is trying to run away, but doesn't have a car or money.
It would focus on the dialogue between him and whoever's car he found himself in. I have an idea that is set in the real world and as I am proof reading this man this post got long.īasically there is a youngish guy who is a hitch-hiker, and the story would follow him being picked up by various cars.
